I’m sorry to disappoint the Rutland Manor groupies but my visit during the day confirmed my opinion that this is indeed a puppy farm and it’s time for Beverley to retire, if not for the sake of her dogs for her own sanity.

Bev posted some outrageous comments on her site following the release of our photos, such as we dragged the dogs out of their “bedrooms” and into a disused shed where old dog beds were stored and then staged our photos! My daylight visit and the Twyla photos confirmed that our pictures are a true account of the conditions at RM.

And here is the “disused shed” used to store old dog beds that we were accused of staging the photos. Our photos quite obviously were not taken in this shed.

Beverley admitted her dogs “bedrooms” did not look good, perhaps this is why we do not see pictures of the dogs in their bedrooms on the new site? They are small cold concrete cell blocks, on each occasion the dogs were photographed at night they had no bedding.

There was only 2 shredded beds for 3 large dogs that were in this shed, no bedding, cold filthy concrete. These dogs make a lot of money for their owner, they deserve a warm bed at the very least.

As I walked around the property I did not observe any toys for the dogs or any sort of environmental enrichment program, I was overcome with a deep sadness.

The dogs and puppies are absolutely gorgeous and I found them irresistible and could have spent all day cuddling them. But aren’t all the dogs on death row gorgeous and worthy of a home as well ? Why do we need more ?

Marketing companies know how much the public find puppies irresistible, they use puppies to sell everything from mobile phones to toilet paper! So how cute the dogs and puppies were wasn’t the issue, it was the breeding mums and dads that spend their whole lives in this barren environment and are only viewed as breeding machines capable of making a fortune. The dogs had worn paths in the ground around their barren enclosures, it was truly a sad place.

The controversy surrounding Rutland Manor started years before I started my investigation and is well documented on the internet, I only exposed the hidden truth through photos and allow people to make up their own minds.

The day wasn’t all peaches and cream as it has been made out to be either. I was photographed and videoed upon my arrival, they were not very friendly at first and I had a large man with bad breath in my face telling me he was going to “stick my head up my arse”, Kate videoed this verbal assault on me, then they phoned the police!

Beverley was kind enough to show me around all the different area’s as long as I didn’t take my camera, Twyla was kind enough to follow us around and take photos every step of the way. Helen and Leith decided to follow for a while and throw in some verbal insults, I didn’t take the bait and they eventually gave up.

I found Beverley to be hospitable and very eager to talk about her dogs and breeding program and I was keen to listen to what she had to say. Everything was always the neighbors, EPA, Council, Police, RSPCA, ex employee’s fault whenever I asked questions that challenged her like the back to back breeding, underage breeding, and the pound dog, Wanda.

Kate and Twyla struck me as intelligent passionate women. Kate spoke to me about her work in rescue in the USA and showed me photos of her gorgeous dog. Kate and Twyla constantly praised Beverley as the “founder” of the Labradoodle and how beautiful her dogs were, however when I asked Kate about what she made of the pound dog, Wanda, the back to back breeding and underage breeding her response was quick,  “I don’t know anything about that”. I don’t think Kate and Twyla are seeing the bigger picture unfortunately.

So why are the RM supporters only focusing on the beautiful dogs and “protecting” Bev and not the real issues of the unethical breeding practices, not to mention the cruel unnecessary debarking ? Why are they trying to detract from the real issues at hand, why dont they answer the hard questions ?

Does Beverley know she is a puppy farmer ? No she doesn’t, she see’s nothing wrong with what she does and has an excuse for all her actions. I feel sorry for her as she appears to be living in her own world and the people that she surrounds herself with constantly stroke her ego and perpetuate the “legend” status in Bev’s mind, they are doing nothing to help Beverley.

I left feeling great pity for Bev, if she wasn’t surrounded by people that kept urging her to continue I think she could retire with her dignity intact and she could possibly have a lot to contribute in other areas.

It is simply not acceptable to factory farm dogs, there are more humane and ethical ways to breed these beautiful animals and it does not need to be on a large scale. Dogs are companion animals not “stock”

As I was leaving they were loading up dogs in a horse float which was heartbreaking, Bev has had 9 months to fix the kennels, instead she debarked the dogs interstate and now she is moving them.

Bev it’s time to bow out, you’re better than all this crap, you can do some good work elsewhere and save some lives. Now it’s your turn to spend a day with me on deathrow.
