So how is stopping kids buying an animal from a shop going to help ? We can’t even trust the anti consumer factory outlets to tell the truth about where they get their animal’s from, visit any pet shop and you will see “We don’t support puppy factories” plastered all over their shop. So Joe Helper are you actually going to trust them to ask customers for ID and refuse a sale if they are not of age ? And who will enforce this piece of rubbish, the same people who are not enforcing the current legislation ?
More unenforceable pieces of legislation to create the perception your actually doing something, more useless laws that do nothing to protect animals and everything to protect the pet industry.
How is putting a time limit on finding an animal a home ethical? Who are you to say that a healthy animal should be killed because time’s up? Truly, who do you think you are condoning the slaughter of healthy pet’s! What about the puppies, kittens, the pregnant dogs and what about the way they are killed, its legal to shoot them or gas them, are you really that out of touch Joe?
What the hell is this ‘rogue puppy farm’ you keep talking about? Are you suggesting that if a puppy factory is ‘clean’, ‘model’, ‘state of the art’ or even registered thats acceptable for our pets? Your legislation currently allows a dog to be bred for life and then killed. What difference does it make to that ‘breeding machine’ whether its sitting on clean concrete or dirty concrete? Your current legislation says a dog on a puppy factory can be confined in its enclosure for 23 hours and 40 minutes every day of its life. Your current legislation allows hundreds of dogs to be kept on one property with one owner and no staff. Your current legislation protects puppy farmers and looks after the interests of the pet industry. Whose looking after the animals?
You have now promised to give the RSPCA $4 million to prosecute cruelty cases, shame on you, that should of been a given, not an election promise. Do you expect any other charity to use public donations on court cases? And what legislation do you expect the RSPCA to use, The prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act ? Have you read it Joe? Define ‘adequate shelter’. Joe what’s adequate for your dog? Apparently being chained to a rusty old car body is ‘adequate shelter’ according to one magistrate, and a raised wire floor cage is also deemed ‘adequate’ shelter for dogs on puppy factories!
And now your going to use the money that responsible pet owners pay Local Government and State Government every year to expand your ‘responsible pet ownership program” so you can teach even more of ‘us’ to be even more responsible!
It’s you Joe Helper that needs a lesson in responsibility. It’s you that needs to stop consulting and protecting the pet industry and start listening to the responsible pet owners.
We want Oscars Law – abolish the factory farming of our pets-get the animals out of pet shops that are nothing more than factory outlets, make it illegal for factory farmed companion animals to be purchased with a few clicks of the mouse and start listening to the responsible pet owners, no compromise Joe!
